K-9 University
DAYCARE & TRAINING LIABILITY RELEASE, WAIVER & CLIENT AGREEMENT
By enrolling, registering, purchasing, or allowing your dog to participate in any service provided by K-9 University, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK
I understand that participation in dog daycare and training involves inherent risks. Dogs are animals whose behavior can be unpredictable, regardless of breed, temperament, previous training, or past behavior.
These risks may include, but are not limited to, bites, scratches, falls, collisions, fights, injuries caused by another dog, injuries caused by my own dog, illness, disease transmission, escape, property damage, or other unforeseen incidents.
I voluntarily assume the risks associated with my dog participating in daycare, training, socialization, enrichment, and other activities provided by K-9 University.
DOG-TO-DOG INTERACTION
I understand that dogs participating in daycare, training, and socialization programs may interact with other dogs.
Although K-9 University takes reasonable precautions to promote a safe environment, injuries can occur during normal canine interaction and play.
I understand that minor injuries such as scratches, small cuts, sore muscles, broken nails, or other minor injuries may occur even when dogs are appropriately supervised.
HEALTH & VACCINATION
I certify that my dog is healthy enough to participate in the services for which they are enrolled and that I have disclosed any known medical conditions, allergies, injuries, behavioral concerns, or physical limitations that could affect their participation.
I agree to comply with K-9 University's vaccination and health requirements.
I understand that even when reasonable sanitation and health precautions are taken, exposure to contagious illnesses, parasites, or other communicable conditions is possible whenever dogs interact with other dogs or share common environments.
I agree not to bring my dog to K-9 University if I know or reasonably suspect that my dog is sick or has been exposed to a contagious illness.
BEHAVIOR & DISCLOSURE
I certify that I have disclosed all known information regarding my dog's behavior, including any history of aggression, biting, resource guarding, reactivity, escape behavior, fear, or other behavior that could create a safety concern.
I understand that failure to disclose known behavioral or medical information may place my dog, other dogs, clients, staff, or members of the public at risk.
K-9 University reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue my dog's participation in any service if continued participation presents a safety or welfare concern.
TRAINING
I understand that dog training results cannot be guaranteed. Training outcomes depend on numerous factors, including the dog's temperament, learning history, health, environment, consistency, and the owner's participation and follow-through.
I understand that K-9 University may use appropriate training equipment, food rewards, toys, leashes, long lines, harnesses, collars, and other training tools appropriate for the individual dog and program.
I agree to communicate any concerns regarding training methods or equipment before or during my dog's participation.
INJURY OR MEDICAL EMERGENCY
If my dog becomes ill or injured while in the care of K-9 University, I authorize K-9 University to contact me and/or my emergency contact.
If K-9 University reasonably believes immediate veterinary attention is necessary and I cannot be reached in time, I authorize K-9 University to seek veterinary care for my dog.
I understand that I am financially responsible for veterinary expenses incurred on behalf of my dog, except to the extent otherwise required by applicable law or resulting from conduct for which liability cannot legally be waived.
PERSONAL PROPERTY
I understand that K-9 University is not responsible for ordinary loss or damage to personal items brought with my dog, including leashes, collars, harnesses, clothing, bedding, toys, bowls, or other belongings, except where responsibility cannot legally be waived.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, I voluntarily assume the inherent risks associated with my dog's participation in K-9 University services.
I release and agree not to hold K-9 University, its owners, employees, trainers, contractors, and agents liable for injury, illness, loss, or property damage arising from the ordinary and inherent risks associated with dog daycare, training, play, socialization, or handling, including risks arising from the unpredictable behavior of animals.
This release is not intended to waive liability that cannot legally be waived under California law, including liability arising from gross negligence, reckless misconduct, or intentional wrongdoing.
OWNER RESPONSIBILITY
I remain responsible for my dog's behavior and for damage or injury caused by my dog to the extent permitted by applicable law.
I agree to provide accurate and complete information regarding my dog's health and behavioral history and to promptly notify K-9 University if that information changes.
EMERGENCY HANDLING & SAFETY
I authorize K-9 University staff to take reasonable steps necessary to protect my dog, other animals, staff, clients, and members of the public during an emergency or safety incident.
This may include separating dogs, interrupting unsafe behavior, relocating my dog to a secure area, contacting me or my emergency contact, or seeking veterinary assistance when reasonably necessary.
AGREEMENT & ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I acknowledge that I have had the opportunity to review this agreement and understand that participation in dog daycare, training, socialization, and related activities involves inherent risks.
By signing up, registering, purchasing, booking, or allowing my dog to participate in daycare, training, or any other service provided by K-9 University, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to this Liability Release, Waiver & Client Agreement in its entirety.
*This Liability Release, Waiver & Client Agreement was created and made effective January 2026.
